elect to remain in the Colonial Service after the probation -ary period and come on the permanent staff, they will retain pension rights in respect of their previous service in England on the same lines as a civil servant who is transferred from one Colony to another.

If the Board of Education would approve the principle of service in the United Kingdom and the Colony being treated as continuous, this Goverment would be ready to fell in with any arrangement which met the approval of
the Board, e.g. it would be willing to pay an annual contribution, as is done in the case of Non-Commissioned Officers and men of the Regular Array employed temporarily under a Colonial Government, or it would guarantee to pay
its proportion of any ultimate pension based on total service
at home and abroad.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient humble servant,
B.E. Stutts
Governor, &c.
